ANN ARBOR – Diane Durance has spent the past 20 years heading up entrepreneurial programs. Recently she took a new position as CEO of Headwaters North, the Sault Ste. Marie SmartZone.
She’s working to create a Blue Tech Hub across the Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan that includes Traverse City. Blue Tech focuses on innovations related to water usage and waterways, including technologies to improve water quality, develop wave energy, increase sustainable fisheries, and create resilient shoreline construction.
You can meet Diane in February at the Michigan Ice Fest in Munising. For the first time, Ice Fest will feature an Innovation Track. Entrepreneurs with innovations in outdoor recreation are encouraged to attend business-building workshops and meet representatives from the top outdoor brands.
