DEARBORN – Amatrol, Seabery, and Applied Technology Systems, their sole Michigan distributor, have been awarded a $338,000.00 contract by Henry Ford Community College to deliver pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and welding simulation equipment and curriculum materials as the first phase of a skilled trades training program at its Dearborn Campus.
The funding for this training program comes from the Community College Skilled Trades Equipment Program (CCSTEP). This skilled trades equipment program was developed to ensure Michigan community colleges can deliver educational programs in high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand occupations, as identified by regional labor market conditions, that build and retain a talented workforce in Michigan.
The CCSTEP is authorized by PA 252 of 2014. This Act authorizes the Michigan Strategic Fund (MSF) to issue bonds sufficient to provide up to $50 million for the purpose of making grants from the CCSTEP.
Seabery is a Spanish company whose North American headquarters is in Stamford, CT. Seabery is the only company of its kind using advanced Augmented Reality technology to train students’ worldwide. This is the same technology used by Google Glass creating a platform called Augmented Training. Seabery’s first Augmented Training platform is called Soldamatic. A Welding Training Simulator that combines real environment and objects, such as welding torches and plates, with Augmented Reality. The Soldamatic program simulates actual welding while providing superimposed help icons throughout the training to allow a “hands-on”, practical welding experience for students.
