SOUTHFIELD— Innovation Encounter, an engineering competition where collegiate teams design a solution to a real-world technical problem, will be held for the 10th year this fall at Lawrence Technological University.
The event will be held Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19 at LTU’s campus in Southfield. Eaton, the power management company, is this year’s sponsor for the event, and will be providing the real-world problem for the students to tackle.
Innovation Encounter is a two-day, hands-on boot camp where up to six collegiate teams of up to six students per team apply classroom training to develop and present solutions to the sponsor’s pre-defined problem to a panel of judges made up of sponsor representatives. The sponsors receive rights to the intellectual property in the ideas presented, and get a chance to connect with motivated students and faculty from LTU and other participating universities.
“Eaton is proud to serve as the sponsor of this year’s Innovation Encounter at Lawrence Technological University,” said Larry Bennett, director, Vehicle Technologies and Innovation, Vehicle Group, Eaton. “Since its inception 10 years ago, this event has successfully attracted some of the country’s top engineering talent to compete against their peers and hone their talents by working to find solutions to real-world problems.”
Lawrence Tech will compete in the event this year, along with teams from Ohio Northern University and the University of Toledo. Up to three more teams are still being sought.
