ANN ARBOR – The Association for Women in Computing Ann Arbor chapter announced that Becky Stroka has been selected to receive a scholarship the first recipient of the AWC-AA scholarship established for outstanding women pursuing degrees in technology related fields.

“Since this is the first scholarship that the Ann Arbor chapter has given, it’s an exciting time to be involved with the AWC,” said AWC-AA President Barbara Eckstein. “It’s a considerable honor to be able to provide this assistance to the next generation of IT leaders.”

This fall, Stroka will begin her Junior year in computer engineering at Kettering University in Flint. She will be honored, along with the winners of the Top Michigan Women in Computing awards, at a gala to be held on November.

Nominations for the Top Michigan Women in Computing awards are still being accepted. Employers and associates are encouraged to make their nomination by July 1. The awards recognize women who have exhibited outstanding scientific and technical achievement and/or extraordinary service and mentorship within their organization and to the computing community.
