LANSING ? Michigan’s research universities dominated the list of finalists for a piece of the $400 million up for grabs in the 21st Century Jobs Fund. The two biggest nominee producers were Michigan State University and the University of Michigan at 22 each. Wayne State University came in third with eight.

Multiple recipients outside the research universities included Western Michigan University (5), Central Michigan University (4), Michigan Technological University (3), the Van Andel Institute (3), Fraunhofer USA (3), Kettering University (2), Karmanos Cancer Institute (2), Industrial Sensing Systems (2), Michigan Biotechnology Institute (2), NephRx Corporation (2) and the Southwest Michigan Innovation Center (2).

Other major Michigan technology and entrepreneurial organizations that also made the finals include: Ann Arbor SPARK, the Ann Arbor IT Zone, Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest, and Wayne State University?s TechTown.
