DETROIT ? At the 2009 TiECon Conference, Mohan Yellapantula caught the entrepreneur bug and went for his dream of getting into the film business. A year later, Yellapantula and two fellow entrepreneurs are just a few weeks away from debuting the film they produced in Michigan with local talent.
“At TiECon I got exposed to different entrepreneurs across the board,” he said. “That was a huge motivating factor. The energy that came out of TiECon was a huge inspiration on taking the next step towards my dream of getting into film making.”
And now he has.
Yellapantula, through his experience working at Ford Motor Company, met Sai Vummethala, on the Ford Cricket team. Vummethala introduced Yellapantula to Adrian Walker, a screen writer who had little success in Hollywood. Walker returned to Michigan in 2009 and with Vummethala founded First Element Entertainment. Now Yellapantula works part time at First Element as a producer.
Their first big film project together is a movie called The Art of Power, a thriller about three unassuming young adults living in Washington D.C., whose lives are thrust into a twisted saga. It’s debut is tentatively scheduled for the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor in October.
Yellapantula said the film was shot in August 2009 with Michigan actors. First Element did a lot of the post production work. What’s more, the musical score was developed, in part, with the composer for the Academy Award winning movie Slumdog Millionaire.
Since shooting the movie, First Element has added a Music Group and TV & Media branches.
“This company has the great balance of youth and energy combined with the necessary experience to flourish in the entertainment realm,” Walker said. “This balance allows for a no-boundaries type of mentality with our creative content and business model, which has proven to work well.”
And it all started for Yellapantula at TiECon 2009. If you’d like a chance to make your dreams come true, register now for TiECon 2010 scheduled for October 28 – 29 at The Henry (formerly The Ritz-Carlton) in Dearborn.
