WIXOM – The IndUS Entrepreneurs, Detroit Chapter has successfully completed its program launch year session of TiE Young Entrepreneurs ? TYE Class of 2012. TYE is a unique program seeking to promote entrepreneurship among high school students in the state of Michigan.

TYE accomplishes this objective by offering training and mentoring programs to selected high school students who learn about the challenges and rewards of becoming an entrepreneur. This nine-month long program encourages youth to get involved in the value creation process by exposing them to the entrepreneurial mindset. Seasoned entrepreneurs and mentors coach high school teens (grades 9-12) on a business-focused curriculum that nurtures creativity, self-confidence, leadership and overall development of the students. The program culminated in a state level Business Plan Competition.

The winning team?s business plan focused on promoting savings while impacting the environment positively. The six-member team included, Nikhil Chaturvedi (Detroit Country Day School), Kunal Garg (Troy High School), Divya Goel (International Academy), Suhana Posani (International Academy), Akash Rachmale (Detroit Country Day School) and Rohan Sinha (Lahser High School). They presented an economics business plan at the State Business Plan competition for the business idea of GreenPlug, a smart plug that can save electricity by minimizing vampire power.

The State level winning team participated in TYE Global finals held in Atlanta, and were lauded by judges for the creativity of their idea while developing a sound business model to sustain and grow the company.
