ANN ARBOR ? Susan Lackey, long time executive director of the Washtenaw County Development Council, and a co founder of the Ann Arbor IT Zone, ends her 11-year tenure on Thursday at the Council?s annual meeting.
Lackey has accepted a job as executive director of the Washtenaw Land Trust, a non profit organization that maintains environmentally sensitive lands. A search is on for her replacement.
?It was time to go on and do something else in the area of community development,?? Lackey said. ?This is the right time to go on and do something else in the area of community development.?
Lackey said she?s eager to get back to her roots, which were in tourism and environmental planning. She said what makes Washtenaw County different from other communities is it has maintained a sense of place and separation between the communities.
Ironically, it was Lackey who helped pull together the Washtenaw County technology community by co founding the Ann Arbor IT Zone, which was one of the state?s first tech networking and educational groups when it was formed in 1999.
Lackey said she?ll stay in touch with the technology community, but won?t play the role she is now with the Council. She?ll say good bye to the tech community Thursday at the Council?s annual meeting, which will be held at the brand new Michigan Information Technology Center, the new home of Internet2 and the Merit Network. The meeting and greet is schedule for 3 p.m., followed by the report at 3:15 p.m., and then an open house at 4:30 p.m.
The MITechCenter is located at 1000 Oakbrook Drive, off the east side of State Street North of Eisenhower Parkway.
