GRAND RAPIDS – Entrepreneurs across West Michigan will soon have the opportunity to turn their big ideas into new ventures in one intense weekend project in February.
Startup Weekend was founded in 2007 by Andrew Hyde, the weekend is a concept of a conference focusing on learning by creating. It is known for its quick decisions, inventive problem solving, unique facilitation technique and letting the founders show what they can do. The program has already met with success in over 52 cities and 12 countries and growing.

highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts,
marketing gurus, graphic artists and more.
“The intent of Startup West Michigan is to dynamically form communities around new ideas,” Shaap said.
“Got a business idea? Want to work with motivated, funny, smart and slightly deranged people on a startup? Come out and join us for two-days of berserk business-building,” Boyink added.
Participants that attend a Startup Weekend decide what they want to tackle over the
weekend and come out at the end with several developed companies or projects.
Participants are responsible for bringing desire and passion to the project and walk out
of the room with a clear move-forward strategy – all in a short 48 hours.
Startup Weekend: West Michigan will take place at The Factory, downtown Grand
Rapids beginning the evening of Friday, February 26th and ending the evening of
Sunday, February 28th.
