ANN ARBOR – Gary Smith has been named Vice President, General Manager at Techstreet, replacing co founder Gregg Hammerman, former Director of Operations. Techstreet was acquired by The Thompson Corp. in 2003.
Hammerman recently left Techstreet to pursue travel and educational opportunities. Hammerman and partner Andrew Bank, co-founded Techstreet as an Internet start-up in 1996. The company delivers industry codes and standards to engineers through its web-based subscription service.
Smith joins Techstreet after six years at Thomson Gale, which produces information solutions for libraries. He most recently served as Vice President of Technical Services, making sure Gale technology met library industry standards.
Prior to his role in Technical Services, Smith served as Vice President of International Sales, where he merged numerous companies and organizations resulting in impressive growth for Thomson Gale outside the U.S. market.
Previously, Smith held various positions at ProQuest, where he helped design and launch ProQuest Direct to the international market. He also provided product and sales support for the Inspec database.
