TROY ? John Bailey, a 30-year public relations veteran, has something to say about business ethics and what?s going on in Detroit from his new blog web site. His first message ? discussing how the Pistons-Pacer?s brawl gave Detroit another black eye ? went live December 7.

Bailey, who founded John Bailey & Associates public relations, said blogs ? Internet jargon for web logs ? are an outgrowth of how technology has transformed the communications business.

?My blog is aimed at anybody who wants to read it,?? Bailey said. ?It will feature public relations issues, a sort of public relations how to do it. We tell our clients to stay up with communications, and we believe in practicing what we preach.?

Bailey said he?ll update his blog weekly, perhaps more often if there?s something hot to talk about. His initial blog focused on the brawl that broke out a the recent Detroit Pistons-Indianapolis Pacers? basketball game.

?Detroit is a great place to live, work, raise a family and enjoy a successful business career. I know, I?ve done it. And yes, by Detroit I mean the greater Detroit region, like the seven-county southeastern Michigan region, home of almost 5 million people, the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions and Pistons,? Bailey wrote.

?The problems that took place at the Palace during a Pistons? game a couple weeks ago where several players went into the stands has nothing to do with where it took place except that it was in the United States. This could have happened in any city in our country. In my opinion, this is a societal problem, not a Detroit problem.

?For us Detroiters, we need to know this could have happened anywhere and go on. We?ve nothing to hide. We are what we are. Let?s continue to be positive and support our community.?
