ANN ARBOR ? Michael Finney of the Washtenaw Development Council and Ann Arbor SPARK will discuss the future of the two organizations he runs on Jan. 26 at the Sixth Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship at Washtenaw Community College?s Morris Lawrence Building. The event is sponsored by Butzel Long.
Event organizers include the Ann Arbor IT Zone, Ann Arbor SPARK, Automation Alley, Eastern Michigan University?s College of Technology, Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest, Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC), Michigan Venture Capital Association (MVCA), MIT Enterprise Forum of the Great Lakes, New Enterprise Forum (NEF), Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) and University of Michigan?s Zell Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies.
?We?re providing a powerful venue for entrepreneurs and their supporters. This event contributes to our collaborative and individual efforts to build strong businesses for our state. It?s an important tradition of celebrating and supporting entrepreneurs,? said Charlie Penner, regional director, SBTDC.
Each year, ACE attracts hundreds of entrepreneurs, service providers, investors, government agents and students. Again this year, attendees will watch a competition where six people present three-minute ?elevator speeches? to a panel of venture capitalists and angel investors. The winner earns free memberships to ACE partner organizations.
Two break-out panel discussions are scheduled for those interested in learning the latest developments on technology transfer and legislative issues. These discussions are aimed at helping entrepreneurs understand the issues that affect their current and future businesses.
Refreshments will be served during the networking portions of the event. Admission is $10 for members of partner organizations, $25 for non-members and $5 for students.
