ANN ARBOR ? Podcasting expert Ron Suarez of MediaRica will host the Top Michigan Women In Computing gala Saturday and share the stage with Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
The gala is the primary fundraiser each year for the Association for Women in Computing Ann Arbor Chapter, which uses the gala to pay for scholarships given to promising young women studying Information Technology. This year?s gala also will honor six Michigan women who have made their professionals marks in computing and technology. (See related story AWC Names Award Winners

Suarez is the founder of MediaRica, a software company that uses podcasting and video blogs to distribute music and information to new media. MediaRica is the podcasting partner of Mitechnews.Com.
Suarez is very active in the Ann Arbor technology community. He runs the Ann Arbor Java Users Group and is the host of Network Downtown, a monthly mixer that combines down tempo music with exotic food. Suarez has been a frequent speaker at the Ann Arbor IT Zone, AWC and the Ann Arbor Oracle Users Group.

The Ann Arbor Chapter of the Association for Women in Computing is part of a national organization founded by 15 women in Washington, D.C. in 1978. It is one of the first professional organizations for women in computing. AWC was formed to establish and encourage communication among women in computing. The scope of the organization has grown to include professional networking, continuous education and mentoring. The Ann Arbor Chapter is the second largest chapter in the nation, following Houston.
