DETROIT Telematics Update has named its award winners for 2004 and OnStar CEO Chet Huber and his company each grabbed one Telematics Update Awards.
The Awards program recognizes companies and individuals for their outstanding performance and achievements in categories such as leadership, innovation and true excellence in their field.
These are the only telematics focused industry awards, said Louise Clarke, Event Director, Telematics Update. Telematics Update is proud to recognize the hard work and the innovative solutions that the winners have brought to the market.
After an overwhelming response in nominations for the second international Telematics Awards, the independent panel of judges had the difficult task of narrowing down each category to five finalists, before agreeing on the final winner.
The 2004 winners are:

Microsoft – Connected Car Technology – Telematics Technology Award: Best Telematics Solution
Motorola VIAMOTO – Telematics Services and Applications: Best Consumer Vehicle Application
Networkcar – Commercial Vehicle Solution – Telematics Services and Applications: Best Commercial Vehicle Application
Chet Huber OnStar – Leadership Award
Telcontar – Mobile Location Server – Horizon Award
OnStar and Cross Country (joint winners) – Telematics in Action Award: Best use of telematics for safety
