ANN ARBOR – New Enterprise Forum presented four awards Thursday night – three to 2008 elevator pitch presenters and one to Ted Dacko, president of HealthMedia, as the Entrepreneur of the Year.
The NEF awards night, at the Holiday Inn North Campus, featured Phil Tepley, NEF President, and Gerry Roston, NEF Program Committee Chair, are the microphone presenting the following awards:
Best Presentation of 2008: SciTech Development. Earl Holsapple, President, accepted the award. SciTech Development is an oncology drug company that has developed a novel intravenous drug-delivery platform for insoluble drugs.
Best Technology of 2008: AureoGen Biosciences. Ake Elhammer, CEO, accepted the award. AureoGen Biosciences is using genetic engineering to develop a novel antifungal drug.
Best Business Model of 2008: Torrey Path. Sean Ainsworth accepted the award for Peter Dressler, President & CEO, who could not attend. Torrey Path facilitates drug discovery by combining information technology and statistical analysis into research decision support tools.
Ted Dacko, President of HealthMedia, was honored as the 2008 NEF Entrepreneur of the Year. Ted led a dedicated core team that brought HealthMedia back from the brink; the company was recently acquired by Johnson & Johnson.
