MIDLAND – As part of the second annual entrepreneurial networking event of the region, the MidMichigan Innovation Center, more than 250 entrepreneurs, business and community leaders, and accredited investors and nearly 40 exhibitors came together May 27 at the Dow Diamond to celebrate entrepreneurship in Mid Michigan.
The keynote address came from Dwight Carlson, Chairman and CEO of Coherix.
Event host, MidMichigan Innovation Center, recognized four individuals with awards:
Ted Doan Spirit of Innovation Award ?The award honors Herbert D. ?Ted? Doan, former President & CEO of The Dow Chemical Company, a thought-leader in the State?s venture capital industry, and a visionary founder of MidMichigan Innovation Center. The winner was Charles ?Ted? Skinner of Midland, BlueWater Angels Screening Chair & Advanced Battery Concepts Business Development Director.
MidMichigan Innovator Awards ? These annual awards recognize individuals for their innovation and leadership which has significantly enhanced the entrepreneurial environment in Michigan. Winners included:

SVSU ?Dow Entrepreneur in Residence,? CEO, IP3 and BlueWater Angels President.
Marv Pichla of Marlette
Executive Director of THUMBWORKS, Owner of Inspiring Innovations, Inc. and
National Center for Public Sector Innovations.
MidMichigan Innovation Center Partner of the Year ? New this year: Created by MidMichigan Innovation Center to recognize heroic efforts to partner and find synergy for the good of entrepreneurs in this region. This year?s winner was Diane Durance of Ann Arbor, Executive Director of Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest.
