ANN ARBOR – Four more Michigan start-up technology companies received $1 million in investment commitments in September from the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund ? companies involved in CRM software, bioinformatics, drug delivery and Internet virus detection.

The latest $1 million capital infusion will push the total investments made through the Fund past $3 million. Earlier 10 companies shared $2 million. The Fund is a collaborative effort of Michigan’s 12 SmartZones.

Recent funding recipients are:

Saleztrack, sponsored by the Detroit/ Woodward Technology Corridor, received $250,000 for its innovative CRM software and services for retail automotive dealers.

Compendia Bioscience, Inc., sponsored by Ann Arbor SPARK, received $250,000 for its bioinformatics and molecular oncology tools, data and analysis software.

Avidimer Therapeutics, Inc., sponsored by Ann Arbor SPARK, received $250,000 for the development of dendrometer drug delivery platform using a nano polymer.

RazorThreat, sponsored by Automation Alley, received $250,000 for its Internet virus detection and protection technology.

The Fund is an equity fund that invests in technology-based companies to support business formation and acceleration. Each SmartZone is responsible for recommending an investor to the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund review board. Ann Arbor SPARK serves as the Fund’s administrator.

In addition to SmartZone sponsorship, companies must have received grant, angel or venture capital funding greater or equal to funding requested of the Fund. The returns that the Fund receives from its investments will serve as seed money for the Fund’s continuation.
