MIDLAND ? The Michigan Molecular Institute has elected Margaret Ann Riecker and Arnold A. Allemang to its board of directors. Riecker is president of the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation’s board of trustees, and Allemang, senior advisor for The Dow Chemical Company.

They join President and CEO Robert Nowak, Chairman Ronald H. Yocum, Treasurer Alan W. Ott, Stephanie A. Burns, R. M. (Rick) Gross, Steven J. Martin, Gregg A. Zank and ex-officio members Cherie A. Hutter and Ardith Chapman.

“This is an interesting juncture in MMI’s history,” Nowak said. “Our scientists are doing important work on several different projects, our number of federally-funded projects is at an all-time high, and our current and future spinout companies are really starting to take off. We’re on the verge of big things at MMI, and we certainly appreciate the expertise and level of community involvement Ranny and Arnold bring to the team.”

Riecker has served as a trustee of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation since 1963, becoming its fifth president in 2000. She has been a trustee of The Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation since 1962 and currently serves as its chair.

In addition, she has lent her leadership and volunteer help to numerous organizations, including Carleton College, Central Michigan University, the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and the Michigan Difference Campaign, along with several local organizations. She earned a B.A. degree from Carleton College in Minnesota and has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Central Michigan University, Albion College and the University of Michigan.

Allemang has held numerous positions since joining Dow in 1965. In addition to his current post on the Dow Board of Directors, he has served as the company’s executive vice president; vice president, Operations; vice president,

Manufacturing Operations Dow Europe; Manufacturing general manager and then regional vice president, Manufacturing and Administration at Dow Benelux; and director of Technology Centers.

Allemang is a member of the Advisory Board for Kansas State University, College of Engineering; the President’s Circle of Sam Houston State University; American Chemical Society; the Board of Directors for the National Association of Manufacturers; and The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering. Board member of Fellows, Saginaw Valley State University; Board of Directors of Michigan Molecular Institute and Board of Directors of MITECH+. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for Dow Corning Corporation. He received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
