LANSING – CyberMichigan and the Small Business Foundation of Michigan announced Wednesday the transfer of the Michigan Entrepreneurship Education Network program to SBFM.
This transfer comes on the heels of a recent announcement that after eight years of intensive and successful work to meet its original mandate, the CyberMichigan Board of Advisors unanimously agreed to dissolve the organization on Dec. 31
and assign its programs to other groups.
Founded in 2002 with funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, MEEN is a network of organizations interested in stimulating entrepreneurship in the state through the delivery of high quality entrepreneurship training and education. With grant funding from the Dow Foundation, MEEN has created benchmarking reports, grants, resource development projects, demonstration projects, information and concerted efforts to develop both entrepreneur training and university-based entrepreneur degree programs.
?Michigan is actively involved in an economic experiment to reengineer its old-line industrial economy into a dynamic entrepreneurial economy,? says Mark Clevey, Executive Director of the SBFM. ?The SBFM expects the MEEN program to significantly enhance the ability of the Michigan education and training system to meet this need.?
SBFM also announced that Karen Bantel, MEEN founder, has agreed to rejoin the group as its Executive Director.
?Karen?s entrepreneurship spirit, acumen and reputation are unmatched in the U.S.,? Clevey said. ?We are extremely pleased that she will again be working with us to enhance entrepreneurial change, vitality and culture in Michigan.?
