ANN ARBOR ? MichBio, the state?s life sciences trade association, has announced the details on its two-day fall trade show, including a life science career day for students and a series of lectures and panel discussions on medical devices and pharmaceutical research and development.
The Sept. 28-29 trade show has received strong support from member businesses and research institutes, including Pfizer Global Research and Development, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Henry Ford Hospital, the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, Michigan State University, Asterand and Esperion.
Day one opens at Wayne State University?s McGregor Center for Michigan high school students interested in pursuing a career in life sciences. The event will run from 8 – 4 p.m. and include experts from several life sciences disciplines discussing pressing health concerns and the career paths for those interested in addressing these challenges. The MichBio Life Science Career Day will feature Michigan?s Surgeon General, Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, Roger Newton, CEO and President of Esperion and Gov. Jennifer Granholm.
Day Two is the MichBio Expo and Conference at COBO Exhibition and Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The MichBio Expo will include a series of lectures and panel discussions on medical devices and pharmaceutical research and development. In addition, a research contract competition is in the planning stages. Details will follow. Emerging businesses will be provided with the opportunity to meet with business development representatives from major pharma and medical device companies.
