LANSING – Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm will travel to Japan on Sept. 15 for the third time in a trade mission to promote the state and encourage development in the state ? with particular focus on alternative energy and advanced manufacturing.

The Executive Office has not yet issued details of the trip. But in several radio interviews, Granholm said she is scheduled to meet during the trip with 23 different companies from September 15-20.

It will be her first trade mission this year. A trip planned to the Middle East earlier in the year was canceled when Granholm had to undergo emergency surgery.

Granholm has previously visited Japan twice, as well as one visit each to Germany, Sweden and China.

Among the companies she will meet with are those involved in advanced manufacturing and alternative energy.
