DETROIT ? Cherri Musser, group vice president and CIO for General Motors Acceptance Corporation Financial Group, on Tuesday was named president of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology.

Musser replaces Kristin Odeh, who served as the Council?s president since late 2003.

“I look forward to the opportunity to lead this organization,” Musser said. “I am tremendously energized by the members and leaders of MCWT. Their commitment to technology and community is inspiring. I am honored to serve this organization in this capacity.”

Musser brings to the Council nearly 32 years in a number of executive information technology and management positions. In her previous position at GM, Musser was the process information officer of Supply Chain and OnStar for General Motors. Prior to joining GM, Musser spent 20 years with Texas Instruments (TI) where she served as vice president of worldwide research and development in TI’s Software Division. She was responsible for product development of market-leading application-development tools to external customers worldwide.

Musser has been honored as one of the “100 leading women in the North American auto industry” by Automotive News and as one of the 25 most influential people in the supply chain industry by Supply Chain Technology News. Musser also has been recognized as one of the “Top Michigan Women in Computing” by The Association of Women in Computing.?
