GRAND RAPIDS Judy Joppie, marketing director for Collins & Associates Employee Benefits Division, was the lone candidate for the post of glimaWest president. Two board seats expiring also had one candidate each.

Joppie previously served on the board of directors of the West Michigan Telecommunications Association, as membership director for over 10 years. Other organizations that she served were the Telephone Association of Michigan, Rural Cellular Association, chairman of the board for the Arthritis Foundation, as well as chairing projects for the March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society. Judy is former membership vice-president for the Grand Rapids Jaycees, and holds an honorary Life Membership with that organization.

Outgoing president Darren Brown, who will become Chairman Emeritus for one year to help with the transition, said his two years on the job flew by.

It was a lot of hard work, but very rewarding, Brown said. We fell like were still just getting started with glimaWest.

Running unopposed for two board seats were Steve Fritz, Senior Applications Engineer Steelcase, and Jim Scott, A partner with Warner Norcross & Judd. He concentrates his practice in technology and intellectual property law.

The election was Thursday night at Notos Old World Dining in Grand Rapids.
