LANSING ? If you love Michigan you can tell your story in video and get the chance to win a top prize of $2,500 in a new competition announced by the Prima Civitas Foundation.
The “I love Michigan” Video Contest is open to Michigan residents who want to produce a mini movie of up to 10 minutes to showcase why they love Michigan and all its great resources. The second place prize is $1,000, and a third place prize is $500.
The competition is designed to spur creativity and artistry throughout Michigan as entrants create videos that tell a story of why they love our state. Videos can last up to 10 minutes and should be clever, engaging, and innovative. Entrants should feel license to create a video that is as creative as possible.
“This is an opportunity for Michigan residents to be our own cheerleaders, to celebrate what makes Michigan great, and to champion the resources that we all love about Michigan,” said Steven Bennett, the Executive Director of the Prima Civitas Foundation. “We fully anticipate that these videos will be a great tool to represent the continued growth and prosperity we all seek for our state.”
A panel of Michigan leaders will select the top 10 videos for final consideration. These top 10 entries will then be voted on by the general public at the Prima Civitas Foundation?s website to select the top 3 videos.
The top 10 video submissions will be used by the Prima Civitas Foundation as it leads economic and community development strategy throughout the Mid-Michigan region and the state as a whole.
Any Michigan resident, age 13 years or older, is eligible to compete. Those under the age of 18 will require parental consent for participation. Videos will be accepted until midnight on December 31, 2010. Entrants must first upload their video on YouTube and then complete an online submission through PrimaCivitas.Org
