DETROIT – Remember TH!NK, the electric city car project bought by Ford then unceremoniously dumped as part of the cost-cutting? It’s set to ride again next year with an all-new design and improved usability.
Development work on the Norwegian runabout is due for completion soon, The Car Connection.Com reported. Ford is currently recruiting for virtually every role you can think of, from sales director and chief technical officer to factory manager and head of product development.
“We are building an organization to meet the exciting challenges ahead,” said a spokesman.
The new car is still a small, silent two-seater, made from a rugged thermoplastic that doesn’t rust or dent. However, the styling is all fresh and the range has been improved. While the old car did 50 miles before the battery went flat, this one will do closer to 80. Standard equipment includes anti-lock brakes, power steering, electric windows, and mirrors and central locking.
Production will start in Norway next year, but there’s no word on pricing or where it will be sold.
