GRAND RAPIDS ? Federal agents Thursday seized electronic data files and financial information at TheCyberNet Group?s world headquarters in downtown Grand Rapids. Sources reportedly said the investigation involves alleged charges of wire and bank fraud at the company, which provides IT services worldwide.
WOOD TV 8 in Grand Rapid reported federal officers seized all electronic data including computers and financial information connected to the company. Federal agents brought in truckloads of equipment, and according to employees, they will likely be at CyberNet for days collecting information.
The CyberNET Group has 120 employees in Grand Rapids, and about 1,000 worldwide in Chicago, Las Vegas, the United Kingdom, Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong and China. 2003 sales were reported to be $200 million.
News 8 said the investigation involves wire mail fraud and bank fraud. The company’s owner and CEO Barton Watson could not be reached for comment.
