SOUTHFIELD ? The Engineering Society of Detroit is hosting free information sessions on earning the Professional Engineer Licensure for engineers through its seven and nine-week programs, starting June 17.
Sessions are hosted in cooperation with the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and the State of Michigan Licensing Office.
Attaining the PE designation remains a highly sought-after confirmation of excellence for industry professionals. The credential?s prestige opens doors to allow for professional advancement, higher earning power and the opportunity to work as independent consultants.
ESD?s FREE Information Sessions:
Saturday, June 17 , 9:30-11 a.m. at ESD Headquarters, Southfield
Saturday, August 5, 9:30-11 a.m. at ESD Headquarters, Southfield

ESD?s FE/PE Licensing Review Courses are divided into the following two parts:
The Fundamentals of Engineering Review (FE Part I): August 15 ? October 19.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., Southfield
The Principles & Practice of Engineering Review (PE Part II): August 26 ? October 14.
Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Electrical, Chemical & Civil); Saturdays 1-5 p.m. (Mechanical & Environmental), Southfield.
ESD?s two-part study format reflects Michigan?s own two-part exam standard: Engineers who pass the State Exam for Engineering Fundamentals are then qualified to register for the Professional Engineer Examination, which results in a State-conferred license and the PE credential for those who pass.
Both exams are noted for their difficulty and the Professional Engineer portion is often compared to the legal professions? BAR exam for its challenge. The high percentage of failure for first-time exam takers prompted ESD to establish preparatory coursework which would better prepare engineers for the content of the day-long state examinations.
