KALAMAZOO Everyone is searching for ways to reduce energy consumption in these days of spiraling energy prices making Energy Summit 2004 a timely event.
The daylong event at the Kalamazoo Valley Community Colleges Michigan Technical Education Center will present case studies by industry experts who will demonstrate how a planned approach to energy consumption can dramatically reduce the cost a business pays for energy. Opportunities for state and federal funding to cut energy consumption also will be discussed.
Event sponsors include Flowserve Inc., Armstrong International, Consumers Energy and Southwest Michigan First.
Energy costs are a growing concern for many businesses, said Bill Adams, Flowserv Director of New Business Development. For manufacturing companies that rely on powered equipment to run their processes, energy consumption is a significant cost of doing business. For many companies, energy conservation and efficiency is a strategic objective for that plants operations team.
Speakers at the conference will include keynote speaker Dr. Neal Elliot, PhD., P.E., industrial program director, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE); Marc Hoffman, director, Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE); and other energy specialists from around the USA. Six case studies from regional companies will be discussed, as will opportunities for State and Federal Government.
