ANN ARBOR ? Diane Durance, who was hired last August by the Ann Arbor IT Zone as its first managing director, on Monday was appointed president, replacing Chuck Salley who retired from the post to play a more focused volunteer role with the SmartZone Business Accelerator, administered by the IT Zone.

Previously, Durance was president of HomeRun Services of Ann Arbor, a venture-funded handyman/remodeling company. Before that, she was president and co-founder of Lexicom Publishing Group of Ann Arbor, a national marketing communications/custom publishing company.

“In a very short while, Diane has shown the creativity, organizational skills and leadership abilities that the Ann Arbor IT Zone requires,” said Ken Nisbet, chair of the Ann Arbor IT Zone board. “Leveraging the solid growth registered by the IT Zone under the leadership of Chuck Salley, Diane has re-invigorated all aspects of our organization and positioned us for the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Durance?s promotion will be celebrated at the IT Zone’s special event, the Z Awards: A Celebration of InnovaTion to be held March 22 at the new MITC Building in Ann Arbor.

“We knew when we recruited Diane last summer that we had a rare talent,?? Salley said. ?Although I am pleased to be able to redirect my energies now to the Business Accelerator, this transition is even sweeter because I know the reins of leadership of the Ann Arbor IT Zone are in capable hands.”
