DETROIT – Richard G. David, has joined Butzel Long as

its Chief Financial Officer. David will serve as a key member of the law firm’s management team and oversee all of the accounting, financial and treasury functions. David is based in Butzel Long’s Detroit office.

David joins Butzel Long after a 30 year career in public accounting with a major Big 4 international accounting firm. As a senior partner, he served on their Partnership Council and oversaw and coordinated financial statement audit activity for companies ranging from local entrepreneurial enterprises to global entities. In that role, he also was responsible for analyzing the impact of emerging accounting principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and implementing newly adopted auditing standards. Further, he developed expertise in target assessment, strategy development, executive relationship management, opportunity identification and assessment and proposal and presentation development.

He regularly advised client CEOs and CFOs on business strategies, planning and acquisition related actions. During his 30 year career, David has achieved several key accomplishments including being recognized as one of the ?90 for the 90s? business leaders by Crain?s Detroit Business. He was one of only ten accountants listed in the inaugural listing of Crain?s Who?s Who in Detroit Business. David has been invited to speak at numerous business seminars and in college classrooms on topics such as business ethics, corporate governance, accounting, and career development topics..

David is active in several community and professional organizations, including his gubernatorial appointment to the Michigan State Board of Accountancy. He also has been involved with such organizations as the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, The Parade Company, Michigan Sports Hall of Fame, Founders Junior Council for the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Southeastern Michigan Venture Group.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Ross School of Business at The University of Michigan.
