FARMINGTON HILLS – Covansys Corp. was awarded the British Standard Information Security Management System certification for its three Indian facilities and two in the United States. The award certifies that a comprehensive recovery and security system is in place to address security risks.

The security certification, awarded by the International Certification firm Des Norke Veritas, went to Covansys software development centers in Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai, India, Farmington Hills and Middletown, Conn.

An Information Security Management System includes people, processes and IT systems. ISMS provides a set of management standard specifications on the types of security controls that an organization should implement to recognize and address security risks by establishing controlled procedures, policies, and best practices for information, personnel, network, and physical security.

“This certification offers assurance to Covansys clients, and prospective clients, that a comprehensive recovery and security methodology is in place to address security risks,” said Covansys CEO Raj Vattikuti.

Covansys products and services certified include: Analysis, Design, Implementation, Re-Engineering, Conversion and Maintenance of Business Application Software, and Associated Information Technology Infrastructure.

Besides BS7799-2:2002 certification, two of the company’s three wholly owned development centers in India are assessed at Level 5 in SEI CMM and all three are ISO 9001:2000 certified and assessed at Level 5 in PCMM.
