KALAMAZOO The band of academic institutions performing basic Life Sciences research in Michigan called the Core Technology Alliance has developed a new marketing alliance to help Michigan Life Sciences startups gain better access to R&D.
The group hosted a news conference on Monday to outline its new mandate. Part of the package is startups that cant afford to use expensive equipment can lease it from one of the core alliance members. The fee structure, however, was not disclosed.
It will provide a single source for information on the impact of biomedical research to the state government and legislators, said Gretchen Johnson, a spokeswoman for Southwest Michigan First in Kalamazoo. It also gives access to research that has proceeded what individual scientists are working on. You can build on someone elses work. We would hope that will help get Life Sciences startups through the process faster.
The five areas in focus are Genomics, Proteomics, Animal Modeling, Structural Biology and Bioinformatics.
