SOUTHFIELD ? Computer Associates International donated $200,000 to UNICEF in support of the organization?s massive relief effort to help the millions of people affected by the tsunami in Asia. CA also will provide a two-for-one match to all employees giving to international aid organizations.

UNICEF is rushing relief assistance to the countries hardest hit by massive ocean flooding following Sunday?s earthquake, working to meet the urgent needs of hundreds of thousands of people who survived the tsunamis but now need shelter, water, medical supplies and other urgent assistance. So far, more than 100,000 people are known to have been killed in the tidal wave.

?We greatly appreciate the quick response of Computer Associates, which will allow UNICEF to provide immediate relief supplies for children and their families who have lived through this widespread death and destruction,? said Jeff Towers, vice president at the US Fund for UNICEF.

?The tsunami has had a devastating impact on millions of people throughout Asia and Africa, as well as the rest of the world,? said Lisa-Beth Platania, CA?s director of community relations. ?At Computer Associates, our hearts go out to all those affected, but particularly the children who will have the most difficult time coping with this tragedy.?
