BLOOMFIELD HILLS ? Butzel Long has formed an Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group in response to the significant growth in the law firm?s patent and trademark work. Several new attorneys will be assigned to the new group.
Members of the practice group will work primarily out of the firm?s offices in Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor and Holland, as well as its headquarters in Detroit. The firm also maintains Alliance offices in Beijing and Shanghai, which provide support to the intellectual property practice. The practice group is managed by shareholder J. Michael Huget.

Joining the Butzel Long IP and Technology Practice Group are:
William Clemens, a senior patent attorney in the Bloomfield Hills office with patent prosecution experience in electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical and chemical processes and devices, especially in the automotive industry. Prior to joining Butzel Long, Clemens was with the Toledo-based patent law firm of MacMillan, Sobanski & Todd.
Thomas Moga, a senior patent attorney with the firm?s Bloomfield Hills office who will work closely with the firm?s China Alliance. Mr. Moga has extensive experience in the chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical arts, as well as with intellectual property law in China. Moga was previously an attorney with the Detroit firm of Dickinson Wright.
B. Kenneth Duck, joins the firm?s Ann Arbor office as a senior attorney after working for the last year and a half in the firm?s China Alliance Shanghai office. Duck has extensive experience with establishing operations, structuring investments, and handling joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property protection in China.
Mark Zietlow, a senior attorney in Butzel Long?s Holland office. His business, corporate and taxation practice includes expertise in trademark licensing and registration.
Michael Flynn, an associate patent attorney in the Bloomfield Hills office who joined Butzel Long from MacMillan, Sobanski & Todd. He concentrates his practice in the area of intellectual property including the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patents. He also has counseled clients on patentability, validity and infringement issues, and has provided litigation support and trademark counseling.
Marie Galindo, an international practice advisor to Butzel Long based in the firm?s Detroit office. She has extensive experience in trademark, copyright, advertising and marketing law.
Theresa Orr, an associate attorney based in Butzel Long?s Bloomfield Hills office. Her practice focuses on worldwide prosecution and national litigation in all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks and copyrights.
