LANSING – With the expectation that it could be among the most important legislation passed this session, business groups are pushing for the Michigan Legislature to keep moving on an energy package.

Various business groups have told Gongwer News Service they want to see the House move quickly on its package to keep discussions going. But they also acknowledged that whatever the House passes is not likely going to be the final product.

House Speaker Andy Dillon (D-Redford Twp.) expects to meet with legislators working on the issue in the next few days to set a schedule for moving the package, said spokesperson Greg Bird.

House Energy and Technology Committee Chair Rep. Frank Accavitti (D-Eastpointe) has indicated he plans to vote on the package, as amended by input at a workgroup last week, as soon as the House returns from spring break.
