TROY – Automation Alley on Friday announced the winners of its Seventh Annual Awards Gala at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi. Winners included Charles “Chip” McClure of ArvinMeritor Inc., as Legend CEO, and George W. Jackson Jr. of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation as CEO of the Year.
Legend CEO (Lifetime Achievement Award) was awarded to McClure for his outstanding business performance, coupled with his keen sense of social responsibility and community emphasis. With more than 25 years of diverse leadership experience in the automotive industry, McClure has taken aggressive action to ensure ArvinMeritor? s future success, while maintaining its foothold as a well-positioned, financially stable company. McClure is a member of various organizations, including the President?s Advisory Group of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable of the Detroit Regional Chamber. He also serves on the executive committee of “A World in Motion,? a Society of Automotive Engineers Foundation program focused on science education.
Jackson, named CEO of the Year, oversees the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, a private non-profit organization devoted exclusively to supporting Detroit? s economic development projects and initiatives. Since 2002, Jackson has been involved in numerous improvement projects for the City of Detroit, including three multi-million dollar housing developments along the Detroit River. He also spearheaded the Lower Woodward Improvement Program, which improved several streetscapes in downtown Detroit. Jackson is an active member on 12 boards across the region.
