ANN ARBOR ? Chris Holman, Small Business Advocate for the Michigan Economic Development Corp., will again emcee the ACE program Jan. 17 at Washtenaw Community College. Showcase presentation will be made by Dave Morin, CEO of Cielo MedSolutions. ACE’s Lead Sponsor is Butzel Long.
For the eighth year, entrepreneurs, investors, and support organizations from across Michigan will gather at a conference designed to showcase new innovative technology business ventures at ACE ?08, again scheduled for Washtenaw Community College?s Morris Lawrence Building, starting at 4 p.m. Admission is $8 for pre-registered attendees. Registration at the event is $20.
In addition, six individuals ? Sridhar Kota, President & CEO of FlexSys Inc.; Sean Ainsworth, CEO of GeneVivo, LLC; Tom Meloche, CEO of Procuit Inc.; Merrill Guerra, CEO of RealKidz, Inc.; and Gene Thomas, CEO of SAM Systems Inc. ? will go head to head in ACE?s elevator pitch competition before a panel of venture capitalists and angel investors for recognition as the winning pitch of the year.
Workshops include Innovation in Michigan, moderated by Philip Power of the Center for Michigan; Tapping Michigan Resources, moderated by Scott Olson of Ann Arbor SPARK; and The Migration from GM to Gee-Whiz, moderated by Linda Chamberlain of the Western Michigan Science & Technology Initiative. The exhibit hall will feature displays by entrepreneurial companies and a number of support organizations, and will be augmented by a new early-stage poster presentation area.
ACE ?08 will also include the presentation of the Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest Phase I Awards for the statewide GLEQ Business Plan Competition. The top new Emerging Company will receive $5000, and the top New Business Idea will receive $2000.
