DETROIT – A net 2 percent of chief information officers in the Detroit area expect to hire information technology professionals in the second quarter of 2008, s new study shows.

Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Index and Skills Report reported nine percent of executives surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter and 7 percent anticipate reductions in personnel. The majority of respondents, 83 percent, foresee no change in second-quarter hiring.

The local results reflect a two-quarter rolling average based on interviews with 200 CIOs from a stratified random sample of companies in the Detroit area with 100 or more employees; 1,400 executives were queried for the national data. The studies were conducted by an independent research firm and developed by Robert Half Technology, a leading provider of IT professionals on a project and full-time basis.
