LANSING – The Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority has added new sophisticated mapping features to its web site where consumers search for tax reverted properties available for purchase.
DLEG?s Land Bank Fast Track Authority worked in partnership with the Michigan Department of Information Technology to make it easier for interested buyers to find key information, such as maps and photos, about available properties.
?We have been using Geographic Information System technology for a variety of functions on Michigan.gov but this joint project with DLEG was particularly rewarding for the MDIT team. This web enhancement will help expedite the sale of tax-reverted properties and ridding our neighborhoods of blighted properties,? said MDIT Director Teri Takai.
Land Bank Executive Director Semone James said the property search enhancements will allow her agency to better serve potential buyers which include consumers, entrepreneurs, real estate agents, developers and community service groups.
?Since Governor Granholm created the Land Bank three years ago, we?ve had many Land Bank success stories. We?ve had entrepreneurs turn empty buildings into businesses. Habitat for Humanity is transforming once vacant properties into homes. We?ve also had real estate agents and neighbors purchase these properties for investments,? James said. ?Land Bank is helping to make Governor Granholm?s plan for economically viable urban communities a reality.?
