ANN ARBOR ? The Michigan Venture Capital Association is putting together a proposal to create an Entrepreneur in Residence program that would place a seasoned entrepreneur in the senior management of a Michigan venture-backed company.

MVCA President Jan Garfinkle said details are little fuzzy yet, but the private equity finance group hopes to pay the Entrepreneur in Residence through private funds with significant contributions from Michigan government.

?Our Entrepreneur in Residence would be hired to work with a Venture Capital company to find a company they would like to run,?? she said. ?This person would become a key component of the senior management team.?

One seasoned entrepreneur Garfinkle said she?d like to keep in Michigan is Ray Schiavone, the former CEO of Arbortext. Arbortext was sold last summer to PTC Corporation for $190 million in cash. He was named one of two Entrepreneurs of by the MVCA.

Schiavone, who attended the MVCA Annual Meeting on Nov. 10 to pick up his award, said he has completed his transition duties and is looking for a new job. So far the only job offers he?s had are in Boston and Silicon Valley.

?We?d love to keep Ray in Michigan,? Garfinkle said.
