FERNDALE – Matthew Felan President & CEO of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, talk about economic development in the Saginaw-Bay City region. The prosperity zone actually includes eight counties. The group is 100 percent privately funded, by Fortune 50 companies like Dow Chemical, and by hospitals, businesses and academic institutions. The region includes about 550,000 people.

The alliance is focused on business attraction, STEM education, and on transportation infrastructure improvements that will impact the region. Examples include the Saginaw River, which serves Great Lakes and Ocean shipping and the MBS International Airport.
