GRAND RAPIDS – West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will host a luncheon program discussing closed loop manufacturing opportunities and sustainable packaging production on Monday, November 8 at the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University.

The featured speaker is Paul England, Senior Vice President and Head of National Accounts for Pratt Industries.  Pratt is America’s fifth largest corrugated packaging company and the world’s largest privately-held 100% recycled paper and packaging company, with more than 9,000 highly-skilled, green-collar employees dedicated to the environment and sustainability.

Known locally as both a frequent purchaser of recycled paper fiber and a supplier of sustainable packaging solutions, Pratt has grown into one of the largest, lowest-cost companies in North America over the past two decades, forced to innovate in a competitive container board market.

Its $250 million, 100-percent recycled paper mill in nearby Valparaiso has been touted as the most environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced facility of its kind, “harvesting the urban forest” of the Midwest’s newspapers, office waste and boxes. The 550,000-square-foot box plant produces 76 million lineal feet of paper every month, enough to stretch entirely around the border of the United States, famously serving major brands such as Home Depot and Amazon.
