LANSING – Michigan Community Colleges Offering Course Credit For Industry-Recognized Credentials Towards Degrees
“Skills gained by obtaining an industry-recognized credential are directly connected to knowledge learned on our campuses,” said Brandy Johnson, MCCA President. “This new partnership recognizes the hard work being done by our students outside the classroom by awarding course credit for more than 500 industry-recognized credentials.”
Students can earn course credit that would count toward hundreds of certificate and degree programs in Michigan. Course credit may be awarded for specific licensures, certifications, apprenticeships, training academies and other industry-recognized credentials. Industry areas where credits are available include healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, culinary arts, digital media, skilled trades, business and more.
Funding to connect the more than 500 industry credential areas is provided by the Ascendium Education Group as part of MCCA’s efforts to strengthen career pathways in the state. A searchable database of credentials that course credit can be offered for is available through the Michigan Transfer Network at https://www.mitransfer.org/Earn-Credits-for-Industry-Credentials.
