LANSING – A spokesperson for Attorney General Dana Nessel confirmed Friday that a search warrant had been executed on Detroit’s information technology department as part of an ongoing investigation into Mayor Mike Duggan and his involvement with the nonprofit Make Your Date.

The execution of the warrant was first reported by the Detroit Free Press.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, Nessel’s spokesperson Dan Olsen said the office couldn’t comment further on what was removed from and premise and why.

Duggan and his office have come under suspicion in recent weeks following a Detroit inspector general report which found that Duggan’s chief of staff had ordered workers to delete emails related to the nonprofit.

Earlier in the year, the Free Press found the city had provided Make Your Date with more than $350,000 in federal grants as Duggan ordered a city-led fundraising effort for the program.
