DETROIT – McConnell Communications of Detroit has been awarded a $4,000 Growth Grant by the National Association for the Self-Employed.

McConnell Communications is one of three winners of NASE’s third-quarter Growth Grants to help expand their business operations.

McConnell Communications is a public relations and marketing firm owned and operated by Darci McConnell, a veteran journalist. The firm, which celebrated its 10-year anniversary in May, places a special emphasis on helping people communicate in a way to get others to act, such as assisting hundreds of fast food workers to tell the public why the minimum wage isn’t enough to take care of a family. McConnell Communications continues to be active in the rebirth and stability of the Detroit community by providing an incubator setting for high school and college students for mentoring and volunteer opportunities.

“On behalf of the nation’s leading association for the self-employed and micro-business community, it’s our honor to announce McConnell Communications as a recipient of our third quarter Growth Grant of $4,000,” said John Hearrell, Vice President of Membership and Affiliate Programs. “The awarding of this grant signifies our belief in this Detroit small business and we look forward to watching Darci make the critical investments needed to grow and expand her locally owned business.”

Hearrell continued, “American small businesses are providing the fuel for our country’s economic engine and creating jobs in towns across the nation.  From Detroit, Michigan, to Indian Trail, North Carolina, America’s small businesses are the backbone of our country’s economic security.”
