WASHINGTON DC – With medical marijuana legal in most states, more veterans than ever before are eligible to use cannabis therapeutically.
Unfortunately, many find it difficult or impossible to gain access to these life-saving programs because doctors within the Department of Veterans Affairs are prohibited from officially recommending medical cannabis to their patients.
This might be about to change.
Members of the House have included provisions in the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies spending bill to finally allow VA doctors to recommend medical cannabis in states where it is legal. However, it is possible that this necessary reform could end up on the chopping block when the final legislation is considered.
It’s happened before, and it could happen again.
Tell Congress to help alleviate the suffering of those who served by improving their ability to access medical cannabis.
