LANSING – Justin Winslow, who has been serving as interim president and CEO of the Michigan Restaurant Association, now has his interim tag removed. The MRA board of directors made the position permanent at their November meeting.
“The MRA board is excited and pleased to have Justin take the executive leadership role of our Association,” said Ken Miller, MRA board chairman. “We are truly fortunate to have someone with his legislative, administrative, and policy experience and expertise at the helm as we address the political, business, and economic issues facing our industry.”
Winslow served as the MRA’s Vice President of Government Affairs since July 2011. In that role, he was responsible for the government relations and lobbying activities of the Association. He saw many political successes during this time, including preserving the “tip credit” and preventing a job-killing minimum wage ballot proposal from reaching the ballot, the creation of a temporary liquor license, and legislation preempting local ordinances mandating wages or benefits of private employers. Earlier this year, Winslow was named one of the Michigan Society of Association Executives “Rising Leaders”, as well as recognition by MIRS News as the second most effective association lobbyist in the state.
Prior to joining the MRA, Winslow was Chief of Staff for State Senator John Pappageorge, leading appropriations and legislative strategy for the Senator. He also served as Legislative Director for State Senator Tony Stamas and Director of External Affairs for State Senator Shirley Johnson.
Winslow holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the James Madison College at Michigan State University and a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree from Michigan State University.
A native of Clawson, Winslow and his wife, Stephanie, and their two children, reside in Holt.
