DETROIT – The Michigan Science Center is offering $5 off a family membership during September to celebrate its member appreciation month. The normal price for the family membership, covering two adults and all household children under the age of 18 is just $75 a year.
The Michigan Science Center also has a lot of great programs and events this month. Those include:
- Our Place in a Galaxy Far, Far Away (Sept. 15 @ noon; Sept. 16 @ 2 p.m.)
Exclusive member-only screening of MiSci’s new planetarium show, Our Place in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. This 45-minute live show features an exciting tour of our place in the Universe and compares our solar system and galaxy to those far, far away. - Detroit Design Youth Day (Sept. 15)
Join Detroit’s next generation of design stars for an afternoon of creativity and exploration, with design-focused workshops geared toward kids ages 2-16. Activities include crafting upcycled leather accessories, designing custom memory cards, and creating customizable origami sneakers. There are 200 free tickets reserved just for members. - After Dark – Star Trek (Sept. 20: 6-9 p.m.)

- Extreme Weather 4D (Sept. 22 @ 11 a.m.; Sept. 23 @ 1 p.m.)
Exclusive member-only screening of National Geographic’s Extreme Weather film in the Toyota Engineering 4D Theater. Visitors will have the chance to discover the dynamic and complex forces shaping our planet—and the surprising connections that help us understand and adapt to our ever-changing weather.
