LANSING – The FIRST ever Lansing Maker Faire is coming Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th 2017 to the Meridian Mall. Lansing Maker Faire intersects the traditional science fair with the modern day innovation and engineering of the Maker Movement.
Maker Faire has been nicknamed the Greatest Show and Tell on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow the Lansing community.
Lansing Maker Faire will be FREE for attendees and will feature hands-on activities for the entire family. The Maker Kids area will feature a Learn to Solder station, Cardboard Challenge and 3D Printing demos. Lansing Maker Faire will also feature several area Robotics Teams, a Laser Cutting Art installation, business startup panel discussions and a Hack the Runway Fashion show.
“We were honored, to be chosen by the Maker Faire Global organization to host Lansing Maker Faire,” said Chris Allen of tinkrLAb and event producer. “Maker Faire will introduce the Lansing area to the Maker Movement, while bringing us back to our roots of innovation, tinkering and making.”
Lansing Maker Faire is being organized by The Mini Maker Foundation, tinkrLAB and the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP).
