GRAND RAPIDS–Officials at the Evansville, Ind.-based data service provider Metronet announced that residents and businesses in its initial construction areas in Grand Rapids now have access to its 100% fiber optic network.
Residents in south central and souithwestern Grand Rapids arfe now eligible for installations, with other areas expected to be connected to ultra-high-speed fiber optic internet as the construction process continues. As Metronet’s service becomes available to more homes throughout the city, residents will have access to multi-gigabit speeds up to 2 gigabits and businesses may access speeds up to 10 gigabits.
Customers located in Metronet’s initial construction areas may now sign up for service installation online at metronet.com.
“As we begin to connect our first Metronet customers in Grand Rapids to our infrastructure, we eagerly await the life-changing impact of access to our state-of-the-art, fast and reliable service on the community,” said Ben Ruzick, governmental affairs director at Metronet. “With access to our service, Grand Rapids is backed by a network that will support the continued economic growth, community development, and widespread resident and business success.”
Grand Rapids residents will see Metronet trucks throughout the area as construction expandd throughout the community. Residents will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to starting. Additional messaging, such as yard signs, will also be provided to notify residents when construction is beginning in their neighborhood. Metronet crews are identified by ID tags and branded Metronet vehicles.
